I need a Pre-Christmas mini-break!

I don’t know about you but I seem to spend the months of November to January running around like a mad thing, struggling to keep up with myself and all the festive preparations and chaos. We always make a point of booking at least a weekend away just to escape and relax for a few days. We quite often leave it till the last minute to properly book, but we’ll have a few options on the table and then decide depending on the weather and what we really fancy doing.

We love the coast during the winter, watching the stormy waves lash against the rocks, and to be honest, we’ve often been really lucky with the weather and picked up some winter sunshine which is always a bonus. I quite like the idea of a coastal jaunt this year, a bit of rosy-cheeked fresh air would do us the world of good.

I really fancy going to the Ox Pasture Hall in Scarborough.  It’s a luxury country house hotel and looks beautiful, oh-so romantic and full of rustic style. It seems like a great base to explore the North Yorkshire coastline, go for a romantic stroll on the beach and spend some romantic quality time with the long-suffering husband. It’s located in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and is close to the nearby towns of Whitby, Helmsley, Pickering and York, which makes it perfect for a spot of shopping too. Sounds like bliss to me.

Wentbridge House Hotel in West Yorkshire

If we’re after a bit of rest and relaxation the next best thing is a country escape. I can’t think of anything better than taking a few days away in a luxurious countryside hotel to relax during the busy Christmas period. Again I’m fancying a trip to picturesque and rugged Yorkshire. I’ve spotted this cracking hotel close to Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York and Pontefract; Wentbridge House Hotel in West Yorkshire. This is a stunning looking hotel set in 20 acres of gardens and grounds in the beautiful Went Valley in West Yorkshire. I love the thought of tramping down country lanes, across fields and into a gorgeous, cozy country pub for an afternoon snifter by a roaring log fire. Enjoying the peace and quiet, far from the madding crowd. Heaven.

If we can get ourselves organised, a few of the girls and I like grab a bit of time away and indulge in a spot of Christmas shopping. In previous years we’ve gone to a Christmas market somewhere and had a great time. Sometimes we’ll grab a city break and hit their high street for a change.

This year we’re thinking a Christmas shopping break in London; do a bit of shopping, grab a West End show, go out for dinner and cocktails somewhere lovely. We quite fancy a hotel slap-bang in the middle of the action and I like the look of the St Georges Hotel on Regent Street. It is close to the West End too and there are so many West End shows to choose from, there’s bound to be a girlie row, but I reckon we’ll end up going to see Wicked. I’ll keep you posted!

Agh, I wish I’d not sat down and written this now, I’m now desperate to book our break and get planning an itinerary of relaxation.

And then there’s always Edinburgh for New Year….

Hey! Hey! What've you got to say? I love your comments.....
