Has spring sprung? The daffodils have been tricked by Mother Nature and some have had their showy yellow heads out since before Christmas, the topsy-turvy weather has made for a confusing time for spring bulbs.
This weekend we went for a long walk in the park and whilst the skies were blue and the sun was shining, there was a distinct nip in the air. I spied the tiniest of snowdrops, traditionally the first sign for me of a little bit of hope that winter is turning into spring, but they were competing with crocus, daffodils and primroses. If you look carefully around the park the beds are littered with tiny colourful buds of hope.
Hope has perhaps sprung too early this year, but aren’t we all guilty of a bit of misplaced hope sometimes. I can’t help but feel that we’re in for an unusual year weather-wise. Maybe an unusual year full stop, who knows.
Who knows indeed? It’s been funny seeing a few snowdrops and daffodils coming out just before the temperature nose-dived during this week. We sadly missed the snow this time, but maybe we’ll get some later.
We’ve got crocuses in the garden too – it does seem quite strange to see them out this early.
I think you are right with it could be a strange year weather wise. The buds are certainly making us feel that Spring could be round the corner, but who knows #mysundaycapture x
I’m still waiting for snow but like you the farm is a wash with spring growth.
I know it’s all wrong, but I love that the daffodils are out! I was worried that the frost was going to destroy them on Wednesday, but they seem to have survived. Here’s hoping for a nice warm spring and summer to come!
So many flowers seemed to have been tricked this year, I do love seeing the flowers early though.
Thank you for linking up
Our snowdrops are just coming out but no irises as yet and my daffodils will be late as I was so late planting the bulbs! I do hope that America’s Big Freeze does not decide to cross the Atlantic. #MySundayPhoto
I noticed the spring flowers in our garden yesterday, they do seem to be very early.
My daffodils are properly confused and happily bloomed. I don’t mind but I think you’re right, its going to be strange weather this year!
We are definitely seeing the plants flower earlier, and they are sending up new shoots. I just hope the frost doesn’t get them #mysundayphoto
I think most years are unusual for us-they never seem to go as expected :-). It is lovely seeing spring flowers around but it does seem a bit early yet.
such pretty flowers. we are having a bit of much needed rain today for Australia Day. it has been quite dry so far this summer.
