If you’re anything like me, you’ll often find yourself becoming uninspired by certain rooms around your home. That duck egg duvet is so last year, that fluffy cushion you thought looked lovely now drives you up the wall and those curtains are doing nothing for the living room.
However, the upheaval of decorating is another huge turnoff. So that got me thinking – how can you transform a room, bring it on-trend and without spending a fortune?
Here’s what I’ve found:
Find Trendy Cushions and Throws
An instant way to inject some style into a room is to opt for on-trend cushions and throws that boast the latest colours and designs. From cottage-style cushions that feature tartan patterns or watercolour animals to modern cushions with cute tassels and heartfelt messages, the possibilities are endless.
Equally, throws that match these new cushions can really bring some life to your bed or sofa. They’re also good for hiding a multitude of sins – and they’re far easier to wash than sofa cushions.
Introduce Vibrant Blinds
While curtains add drama and panache to some rooms, you may find that switching these out for contemporary blinds works a treat. Creating an airy, modern feel, they help bring more light into the room and create a feature of your window (all without detracting from the window itself like heavy curtains sometimes do).
Companies like Direct Blinds are great for finding something to complement your existing décor or something that brings a dramatic twist to a neutral colour scheme.
Add a Funky Rug
If you’ve got neutral carpets or wooden or tiled floors, nothing brings a space to life more than a funky rug. Again, try to find something that’ll complement the colours you already have in the space but that adds another layer of design and colour to the room.
Create a Feature
Now, if the thought of painting or wallpapering doesn’t bring you out in hives, why not use one wall to create some wow factor. This is so much easier and far more cost-effective than decorating the entire room but can have just as much, if not more, impact on the space.
Find a wallpaper or paint colour that goes with the aforementioned accessories and furnishings and watch as the room goes from dull and drab to fun and fab.
Once done, you can finish the room off in style with some new accessories, photo frames, gorgeous candles and other beautiful finishing touches.
It really is that easy!
