Summer is coming – Time to Think about Parties

Last Updated on December 30, 2020 by HodgePodgeDays

Rather than focusing on the bad weather, I decided to just shake it off and think about the coming sun and warmth. After all, the days are officially starting to get longer. It won´t be long before you can host a big party in your garden. Summer is coming!

When it comes to catering, there are lots of ways to make things easier for yourself. Here are just a few approaches you could take:

Treat your guests to a hog roast

It is now possible to hire professional grade Hog Roast Machines and use them to treat your guests to any type of spit roast meats. Most firms will deliver the machine pre-loaded with your choice of meat. Usually, they will explain when it needs to be turned on. That way everything will be cooked and ready for your guests to enjoy at the right time.

Spit-roasted meats always taste wonderful and smell divine when they are cooking. It is a very impressive dish to serve your guests and is an easy way to feed a lot of people. Once cooked, it can be served in all kinds of ways. For example, you can slice it and lay it out with other buffet foods, or pull the meat off of the bone, stuff it into soft rolls, and serve it with a nice sauce and maybe some pickles.

Cook a barbecue

If you do not fancy serving a spit-roast at your party you could always cook a barbecue. Again, it might be a good idea to hire a proper barbecue if you are planning to invite a lot of people. Most modern hog roast machines can quickly and easily be converted into a huge gas grill. All you then need to do is to fire it up and spend about an hour cooking everything. Whereas, if you stick to using your family grill you will typically end up having to carry on cooking for several hours to be able to cook enough to feed everyone.

Host a potluck party

Another approach is to ask each guest to bring a dish. Most people will like the idea of bringing a large portion of their special dish along. To be on the safe side, plan to provide at least some of the food yourself.

If someone is not a confident cook, just explain that it is ok to bring something shop bought instead. It is a different way of hosting a party, but one that a lot of people discover that they actually prefer. Before organising your first one, talk to a few of your friends and family to make sure they are up for the idea. You can find out more about hosting this type of party from this website.

Let someone else take the strain

Another approach is to provide some basics, like bread, salads, a few finger foods, and some shop bought desserts. Then, order the main dishes from your local take away or restaurant. A lot of them offer good discounts when you order in this way. Pizza and curry go down really well. They are both relatively easy to keep warm while everyone gets served.
